Employment: Day Camp Counsellor
(Day Camp – Casual Position)

Under the direction of the Day Camp Coordinator, the Day Camp Counsellor will: 

  • Participate in training and planning sessions as required

  • Assume responsibility for the supervision, personal hygiene, safety and well-being of campers

  • Know whereabouts of your campers at all times

  • Provide one to one or two to one support for campers with diverse needs as determined by the coordinator

  • Accommodate campers in an inclusive camp experience

  • Assume responsibility for camp facilities and equipment

  • Must be prepared and willing to enter the lake to actively supervise children when required

  • Must be willing to keep personal cell phone in your locker. Only to be used during breaks and lunch

  • Communicate effectively with parents of campers daily

  • Learn Kinap Polices and Rules of Camp

  • Treat everyone fairly within the context of their activity, regardless of gender, place of origin, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, political belief or economic status

  • Wear a Kinap staff shirt, tank top, pinny or hoodie that is provided to you

  • Complete the end of summer evaluations and assist with the closing of camp

Requirements: 

  • First Aid / CPR is preferred, but not required

  • Experience working with children is an asset

  • Successful screening through Child Abuse Registry and Criminal Record check (for ages 18 and older)

Skills: 

  • Highly motivated, personable and well organized

  • Experience working with the public (all ages) especially children and youth

  • Work collaboratively with the Camp Coordinator

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member

  • Be of excellent character and a role model

  • Possess enthusiasm, energy, patience and a sense of humour

  • Desire to work with children in an outdoor environment

  • Demonstrated skill or ability to develop skills working with children who have challenging personalities or behaviours

Salary & Hours: Starting wage for this position is $16.50/hr. This is a Casual position to fill in for sick calls, events, and vacations. Shifts will be mutually agreed on. Duration: July 2nd, 2025 to August 30th, 2025

  • First Aid / CPR or willingness to obtain

  • At least one season/summer of experience working with children

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

  • Successful screening through Child Abuse Registry and Criminal Record check (for ages 18 and older)

Employment: Canteen Staff
(Day Camp – Part time)

Under the direction of the Canteen Manager, the Canteen Staff will: 

  • Participate in training and planning sessions as required

  • Assist in daily operation of the camp canteen, including selling snacks, drinks, hot dogs and ice cream to the campers and general public

  • Supervise and manage camper traffic during break and lunch periods

  • Carefully follow documented food allergies and special requests by parents for their child

  • Ensure the canteen is kept clean, organized, and stocked throughout the day

  • Handle cash and point-of-sale system accurately and responsibly

  • Provide friendly and efficient service to campers, parents and public

  • Communicate effectively with parents of campers daily

  • Follow Kinap Polices and Rules of Camp

  • Wear a Kinap staff shirt or hoodie that is provided to you

Requirements for Hire: 

  • First Aid / CPR is an asset but not required

  • Valid Food Handlers Certificate is an asset but not required

  • Experience working in a canteen, food service or cash handling environment is an asset

  • At least one season/summer of experience working with children preferably

  • Successful screening through Child Abuse Registry and Criminal Record check (for ages 18 and older)
